Scrappy Hearts Garland Class

Class Date: Sunday February 11th
Class Time: 1-3 PM
Class Instructor: AJ Young

Add a handmade touch to your Valentine's Day (and use up some of those scraps you've been holding on to) with a scrappy hearts garland! This sweet garland is simple to make and comes together quickly using iron on adhesive (that means no tiny, fussy piecing!). This class is a low-pressure introduction to applique and scrappy sewing. Scrappy garlands are easily adaptable to other holidays or occasions and fun for both beginners and experienced sewists.

Required Supplies
Cotton Fabric Scraps about equal to a fat quarter. These can be just about any size, since we'll be fusing them, rather than piecing them together. Strips work great for this, but any shape will work. Alternatively, you can bring a few fat eighths or fat quarters and cut pieces from those. Colors and patterns are up to you! Stick with the classic reds/pinks for valentines day or mix it up with a wider variety of colors.

2 - 9x12" Felt Sheets in white (or preferred color)
2 yards of Twine, Ribbon, or Rope (as long as it will fit under your sewing machine foot)
1 - 17" x 1 yd of HeatnBond UltraHold Iron on Adhesive

Scissors (we will be cutting both fabric and paper)
Pen (regular - not something that will disappear with heat!)
Sewing Machine
All Purpose Thread
Universal Sewing Machine Needle
Clips or Pins
Wool Pressing Mat & Iron or Travel Iron (recommended, not required)
Free Motion Quilting Foot (optional)
