School's out, so let's make something awesome! This beginner series is the perfect summer activity for kids who are ready to learn a seriously cool skill. No experience needed - just bring your enthusiasm and get ready to sew and impress your friends and family with what you make!
Over 4 sessions, you'll make:
✨ Pillowcase: because every sewing journey starts with a good night's sleep
✨ Zipper Pouch: zippers aren't scary, we promise
✨ Drawstring Pouch: cute, quick, and endlessly useful
✨ Craft Apron: protect your outfit while you craft in style
✨ Bonus projects (if we're on a roll!) : Scrunchie & Pixie Basket
By the end, you'll head home with a bag full of things you made with your own hands - and the skills to keep sewing all year long. This class is also the first step toward taking Session 2 so think of it as your sewing origin story!

✨ We have 2 classroom sewing machines - if you need to use one for this class, please call to reserve your machine. These are first come, first serve. Otherwise, you will need to provide your own sewing machine!

Please Note: All required fabric should be 100% non-stretch cotton (quilting cotton).
✨ Pillowcase: ¾ yd of main fabric, ¼ yard complementary fabric
✨ Zipper Pouch: 2 fat quarters, 7-9” zipper
✨ Drawstring Pouch: 3 fat quarters, 2 yd ½” twill tape or double fold bias tape
✨ Craft Apron: 1 yd main fabric, 3 yd double fold bias tape
✨ Additional Projects (if time):
- Scrunchie - scraps
- Pixie Basket - Three (3) 10” squares of coordinating fabric, 5” twill tape 5/8” wide
✨ Basic Sewing Supplies: Coordinating thread, Scissors, Seam ripper, Straight pins, Hand sewing needles, Machine sewing needles, Marking tool, Sewing machine and accessories

Class Policy
Our classes require planning and preparation in advance including ordering materials and supplies, scheduling teachers and reserving our classroom space. When students request cancellations or reschedule at the last minute, it affects all of the above in addition to taking away a spot from someone who wanted to take the class.
We are unable to make exceptions to our policy listed below. That includes for reasons of illness, travel, or work. If you are unable to attend a class at the last minute, please consider offering the spot to a friend!
If Calliope Quilts cancels a class for any reason, you will receive a FULL refund.If you wish to cancel 14 days or more before the date of your class, you will receive full credit towards another class within 6 months of the original class date. If you cancel a rescheduled class, you will forfeit your payment for that class.If you cancel 2-13 daysbefore the date of your class, you will receive a full credit to use towards another class within 3 months of the original class date. If you cancel a rescheduled class, you will forfeit your payment for that class.If you do not cancel your class within 48 hours of the class start date and time OR you do not show up, you will forfeit your payment for that class.If you register for an event or class with a guest educator, your class fee is nonrefundable.
